Dosymzhanov Baigali Dosymzhanovich (1922-1998) - Soviet Kazakh opera singer (lyric tenor), stage director, People's Artist of the Kazakh SSR (1954), Laureate of the Stalin Prize of the second degree (1949), three times holder of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, Order of Parasat.

Baigali Dosymzhanov was born on January 1, 1922 in the city of Semipalatinsk (now Semey, East Kazakhstan region). In 1939 he graduated from the Alma-Ata Musical College. In 1941 - the Kazakh studio at the Moscow Conservatory, in 1947 - graduated from the Alma-Ata Conservatory (now the Kurmangazy Kazakh National Conservatory).

Since 1941 he has been a soloist of the Kazakh Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 1942 he worked in the Ensemble of Internal Affairs Officers, later - in the musical and choreographic ensemble of border guards.

Since 1944, at the Kazakh Academic Opera and Ballet Theater, he performed the parts of Tolegen (Kyz Zhibek by E.G. Brusilovsky), Birzhan (Birzhan and Sara by M. Tulebaev). The first performer of the part of Abai in the opera "Abai" by A. Zhubanov and L. Hamidi.

He made a significant contribution to the development of national culture and art of Kazakhstan. He promoted folk songs and songs of folk composers (Akbakai, Syrymbet, Gaini, Zhiyrma bes, Aittym salem, Kalamkas, etc.).

Dosymzhanov's singing talent was distinguished by high culture, bright colors, deep, sincere performance.

Since 1960 he has been directing. He staged the operas Un ballo in maschera by G. Verdi, Kudasha by Z.G. Ismailov, "Kyz Zhibek" by E. Brusilovsky (together with K. Baiseitov), ​​"Alpamys" and "Kamar-Sulu" by E. Rakhmadiev. In 1975-76. re-staged the operas "Birzhan and Sara" and "Abai" (State Prize of Kazakhstan).

He was the head of the department for training opera singers at the Almaty Conservatory. Nurtured many young talents.

He died on July 9, 1998 in the city of Almaty.
