Moldabaev Aniyar (Anuar) Kozhabayuly (1856-1934) was an active member of the Alash movement.

He was born in 1856 in Shyngys parish (now Abai district of East Kazakhstan region). He was a contemporary and ward of Abai. His father Kozhabai was a carpenter for Abai. He studied at the Semipalatinsk boarding school, then at the city school No. 5. At Abai's insistence, Aniyar studied in Russia and, having received a lawyer's certificate, returned to his homeland.

After that he worked in the post office, where he was sent to Tashkent, then to Andijan. Returning to Semipalatinsk (now Semey), he worked as a translator at the State Bank until his retirement in 1919.

In 1917 he joined the Alash party. In April-May 1917, A. Moldabaev was a participant in the congress of the Semipalatinsk Regional Committee of Kazakhs, where he was elected to its membership. He was the treasurer of the regional committee of Alash, a member of the assembly of the Zemstvo of Semipalatinsk region (now East Kazakhstan region), chairman of the Provisional Semipalatinsk district Kazakh Court and deputy chairman of the Zemsky Bank.

In Semipalatinsk (now Semey), A. Moldabaev purchased a house on a bill of sale from a merchant Moskvin. During visits to Semipalatinsk (now Semey), Abai and his sons Akylbai, Abdrakhman, Magauiya, Turagul, Kakitai stayed in this house. In the 20s, M. Auezov, J. Aimautov, M. Dulatov lived here. He was well acquainted with the spouses Nurgali and Nazipa Kulzhanov.

In Semipalatinsk (now Semey), the house-museum of the great Kazakh poet Abai Kunanbayev Kunanbayev was located in the house of Aniyar Moldabayev from 1944 to 1967. This two-storey mansion was built in the last quarter of the XIX century. The mansion, famous in the city, had every reason to become a memorial museum of Abai. Its first director was a young talented writer Kayum Mukhamedkhanov.

In September 1997, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of M. O. Auezov, a museum exposition "Alash Arystary and Mukhtar Auezov" was opened in this memorial house of Aniyar Moldabayev.
