Godovsky Efim Naumovich (1907-1975) - artist, teacher, participant in the Great Patriotic War.

Born in 1907 in Ukraine in the city of Zhitomir. Since 1922, he was brought up in the House of Teenagers in Kiev, where he studied at the art studio. In 1925 he arrived in Moscow, where he graduated from the Higher Artistic and Technical Workshops (VKhUTEMAS), having received the specialty of an artist. He worked as a designer in the theater. Sun. Meyerhold (Moscow). As a member of the All-Union Artist organization, he traveled a lot around the cities (Chelyabinsk, Nalchik, Rzhev, Penza, Ust-Kamenogorsk), working on a contract basis. In 1940-1941. - chief artist of the Rzhev Drama Theatre. In 1941 he moved to Penza, graduated from the military technical school. In 1942, he was called to the front by the city military registration and enlistment office.

He fought with the rank of lieutenant in the 238th Guards Rifle Regiment. In January 1944 he was seriously wounded in both legs. In 1945 he was commissioned.

In 1947 he came to the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, East Kazakhstan region. Until 1949, he worked as the chief artist in the East Kazakhstan Regional Drama Theater. Zhambyl. With his participation, as the chief artist, the performances "Old Friends", "For Those at Sea", "The Russian Question" were staged.

In the period 1949-1951. worked in the Regional Museum of Local History as an artist. For more than 20 years (1950-1970) he led a circle of fine arts at the city House of Pioneers. The talented teacher E. N. Godovsky brought up more than one generation of future artists. Among them are members of the Union of Artists of the USSR and Kazakhstan A. Shchur, S. Shuplyak, A. Klimov, G. Merkasimov, People's Artist of Russia, Academician of Painting V. Psarev ...

Efim Naumovich Godovsky died in 1975. But he continues in his students, whose works are kept in the funds of the State Museum named after Kasteev and the Directorate of Art Exhibitions in Almaty, in private collections in Moscow, Leningrad, Almaty, Ust-Kamenogorsk.
