Zhilinsky German Borisovich (1914 – 1990) was a geologist, Soviet scientist, Doctor of Geological and mineralogical sciences.

He was born on April 25, 1914 in Semipalatinsk (now Semey, East Kazakhstan region), in the family of an employee. Father Boris Dmitrievich, worked in the land department, mother Agnia Viktorovna is a teacher.

In 1931 he graduated from the Semipalatinsk ten-year school with a land management bias - specialty topographer. In 1937 he graduated from the Kazakh Mining and Metallurgical Institute (now KazNTU) with a degree in Geology and Hydrogeology. In 1937 - 1938 he worked as an engineer in the design department of Turksib, in 1938 – 1950. geologist in Chukotka (Russian Federation), deputy. Head of the department of "Chukotskstroy"; In 1951-1975, for family reasons and health reasons, he moved to Kazakhstan, worked as a researcher, head of the department, Deputy director of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan. From 1964 to 1966, acad. – Secretary of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan; 1975-1979. Head. Siberian Department of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Yakut branch; 1979-1985. researcher at the Magadan branch of the Khabarovsk Polytechnic Institute. From 1985-1990 scientific consultant of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan. Scientific works in the field of geology, geochemistry and metallogeny of tin. Developed the technology of hydrothermal synthesis of cassiterite single crystals. Lauryat of the Lenin Prize - 1985

Passed away on July 15, 1990.
