Berdin Esentai (1894-1967) – akyn, educator
He was born in the village Kokbay of Abai district of Semey (now East-Kazakhstan) region. In 1905-1910 he studied at the Madrasah in Kokbay, in 1911-1914 he studied in Semipalatinsk Russian-Kazakh School, in 1918 he studied at the teachers' courses at the regional land management, in 1921 in Kazakh Pedagogical College. His book «Example youngest» was published in 1918. Since 1928, he was a head of the school in Karauyl. During this period he wrote the poems «Employee», «October», «Pride», «Painting the village», «The Nature of Kazakhstan» and etc. He was convicted on false charges for 10 years in 1937, re-sentenced to 10 years in 1949. He was released in 1956, the last years of his life he devoted to creativity.
