Shakarimuly Ahat (1900-1984) – a poet

He was born at the foot of Shingistau in Abai district of East Kazakhstan oblast. He graduated from the Semipalatinsk Pedagogical College (1927), Kazakh Pedagogical Institute (now Kazakh National Pedagogical University named after Abai, 1935). In the 1927-1934 he worked as a teacher in his native village, in1934-1939 in the middle school in Shymkent, in the regional schools of Zhambyl district, before 1967 in the schools of Almaty oblast. In 1969-1984 he was the director of the museum of Abai in Zhidebay. In verses Ahat «Misak», «Akyn Orisi» reflected the social situation, the living conditions of the people. He was awarded the Order of Labor Red Banner, «Badge of Honor» and medals. He died in 1984 in Semey.
