Kunanbaev Akylbay Ibrahimovich (18…-1904) – poet, public figure, eldest son of Abai.
He was born in the tract Chingistau (now Abai district of East Kazakhstan oblast). He studied in the Muslim madrassas. Akylbay played the dombra, violin. He independently studied Russian and European literature. He is an author of poems «Zulus», «Zharakh», «Dagestan». The basis of the poem «Zulu» Akylbay put the plot of the novel by the English writer Henry Haggart «King Solomon's Mines». The poem «Dagestan» about the confrontation between justice and deceit by the events taking place in the Caucasus. Akylbay with his father and brother was a member of the «Society of care of public education», as well as steward elected parish. Akylbay died in the prime of life, exactly 40 days after his father's death.
