Ospanov Omargazy (1910-1988) – translator, a veteran of World War II
He was born in the Beskaragay district of Semey (now East-Kazakhstan) oblast. He graduated the technical school, two courses of Agricultural Institute. In 1937, he graduated the Kazakh Institute of Journalism in absentia.
He worked in the newspapers «Kolkhoz», «The way of Stalin», «Kazakh literature».
He started literary translation since 1936. He translated into Kazakh language the works of A.S. Pushkin, A.P. Chekhov, N.B. Gogol, I.S. Turgenev, M. Gorky, A.S. Novikov-Priboya, I. Shukhov, D. Granin, S. Zalygin.
He was awarded the Order of the Red Star and the medal «For Labour Valour».
